Day 5

Greetings from Costa Rica! Today was a hard working day, but luckily we were given a separate job which sheltered us from the smoldering Costa Rican heat. Instead of tediously painting the fence, we landscaped the playground and school area with jobs such as weeding, raking and blowing the leaves, fixing small problems with the playground, and digging holes for the bases of rainwater plumbing systems for the school. Other than working, we played many different games with the kids such as duck duck goose and soccer. Also, many little kids got excited when Hannah taught them English words and phrases. Bruce and Chase also gave candy and cliff bars to the children in our home stays and they were very excited! After we returned from our home stay lunches, we had a meeting with Megan (the owner of the lodge where we are staying) and she told us the story of her life and how she got to where she is.  Altogether, the day was VERY hot yet very productive. We are having an amazing time and are excited for a night hike that we will be taking tonight. We miss you all at home!!

Love- Hannah and Bruce (:
